2026 A New Season of Our Lives

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:I ESV

Every new season in 2026 can be better understood by reading the Book of Ecclesiastes.

Life on this earth, under heaven or under the sun is undergoing constant change. It can be compared to the phases of the moon, from the waxing phases to the wanning ones. Astronomers can calculate the phase of the moon ten thousand years from now. God knows what season you will be in every day of your life even before you are born. Though we do not know what season is coming, we can trust in the God that does know.

The main premise of the Book of Ecclesiastes is found in verse 1 of Chapter 3, ESV, For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. Wisdom is knowing what season we are in and acting and reacting accordingly. Verses 2, and 4 ESV, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to weep and a time to dance. You don’t weep at a birth or a wedding, nor do you dance at a funeral. Life under the sun is full of both experiences and emotions and that should not surprise us.

Some of these changes are due to the providence of God, while others can be determined by the human will. Man is free and God is sovereign and if that does not confuse you it probably should. Theologians have been discussing this issue for centuries and I am not sure I have seen a clearcut equation to explain it.

Key words that help us understand this book are “under heaven”. ESV or “under the sun in other translations. Life on planet earth can seem random at times. Good people at times seem to receive evil, and bad people sometimes receive good. Yet, God is working out our plan for our ultimate good in heaven. There, every wrong will be made right, and every wound healed and we will experience one perfect unchanging season.
